We welcome all families to have a fun time exploring our museum and discovering new things.

Find out about the hands-on activities in our galleries, museum trails and what family-friendly events are coming up – or have a go at our at home activities.

We offer a range of fun activities in our gallery spaces for families to investigate our collection as they explore the museum.

- Look out for Kipper the Cat hidden in the Museum. Will you find all his hiding spots?

- Every gallery has a hands-on activity such as dressing up, cabin bunk beds and games like our giant Connect Four.

- Have a go at one of our family trails. We have themed trails throughout the year.

- At Kipper’s Art Cart you can get creative, play games or read a fishy themed book.

- Explore our temporary exhibition space through hands-on activities and activity sheets.

Families Frequently Asked Questions

ARE PRAMS AND BUGGIES ALLOWED IN THE GALLERIES?

The Museum is accessible for visitors bringing prams and buggies. We do not have a cloakroom so please keep them with you at all times. We do have some space to park buggies in the courtyard, but priority will be given to café customers. Buggies are left in the courtyard at the owner’s own risk.

IS NAPPY CHANGING AVAILABLE?

Nappy changing facilities are available in our toilet in Gallery 1.

WHERE CAN WE EAT?

Families are welcome in our café, which has a kids menu. High chairs are available, subject to availability.

CAN I BREASTFEED IN THE MUSEUM?

Yes! Parents are welcome to breastfeed or bottle-feed wherever they feel comfortable on Museum grounds.

MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILY HAVE ADDITIONAL NEEDS. IS THERE INFORMATION TO SUPPORT US?

Yes! Please see our accessibility page for information to support your visit. We also have a sensory backpack that you can borrow. Touch tours can be booked in advance (subject to availability).
