Fisherlasses (P1-P7)

A woman’s work in a fishing community was rarely ever done!

What was a fisherlass’s day like? What jobs did they do within the local community, and how did their role change as new technology developed? To uncover these stories students will study objects, consider sources, and even dress up! In this multi-faceted session, students will be able to broaden their understanding of the grit and endurance shown by women up and down the Scottish coast as they followed the fleet and the ‘silver darlings’ (herring).
