The museum news section contains information and views which are relevant to the fishing industry and up-to-date. The aim is to cover the widest spectrum of opinion and, as a non-political body, it is stressed that any news expressed are those of the originator and not the museum.

Tourist Attraction of the Year Award 2004
The Scottish Fisheries Museum are proud to have been selected the Tourist Attraction of the Year.

National Significance - 12/Jul/2007
On 25th June, 2007 Culture Minister Linda Fabiani announced the names of ten museums which had successfully applied to have their collections achieve 'Recognition of National Significance' and these included the Scottish Fisheries Museum. The Committee designated the whole collection on the basis that it "vividly illustrates the working and domestic lives of the men, women and children and associated industries, such as boat-building, coopering, engineering, fish processing, the repair of nets and the baiting of lines"

Royal Visit - 12/Jul/2007
On 30th May the Museum was visited by the Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay. The visit was to meet the families of those men lost in the fishing boat tragedies involving the 'Meridian' and 'Unity'.
