The museum news section contains information and views which are relevant to the fishing industry and up-to-date. The aim is to cover the widest spectrum of opinion and, as a non-political body, it is stressed that any news expressed are those of the originator and not the museum.

Christmas Opening Hours - 13/Nov/2009

Over Christmas and New Year, the Museum will be closed on the following days:

25, 26 & 27 December

1, 2, & 3 January

We will be open as usual on all other days over the Festive Season.

Look out for our Fisherlass and Fisherlad leading the Reindeer Parade on Friday 11 December!

Reaper Photo Competition - 23/Jul/2009
'Reaper on the West Coast' Photographic Competition

Thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to the high standard of entries. A wide range of styles and locations were involved. The five judges had a difficult task as you would imagine but the result was:

Winner:

'Reaper in a Breeze' crossing Loch Linnhe, Tobermory bound

Runner-up:
Andreas Radelet (Germany)
'Reaper in Portree'

Commendation:
Stephen MacDonald (Mallaig)
'Reaper - Mallaig'

Thanks to all who took part and we hope to add the images at a later date with maybe a touring exhibition in due course.
