Trains Services towards Anstuther
ScotRail operates in Fife and the nearest stations to Anstruther are at: Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes Markinch, Culpar and then Leuchars (about 6 miles North west of St. Andrews).

Travelline info Feb 2008: was that both Kirkcaldy and Leucars railway stations were accessible to wheelchair users in both directions. Platforms were ramped, had RADAR key operated accessible toilets and stations were either staffed or could be staffed by arrangement. Kirkcaldy had staff from early morning to midnight.

Bus timetable
Service X58 and X60 connects Edinburgh and St. Andrews stopping within 15 metres of the front entrance into the Scottish Fisheries Museum. It also passes through Kirkcaldy, Leven and Upper Largo

Service X26 and X27 connects Glasgow with St Andrews passing through Kirkcaldy, Leven and Upper Largo (see service 58 & 60 above).

There are no raised platform bus stops in Anstruther.

Bus timetable
Service 62 connects Anstuther with coastal villages to the south west as far as Elie, which is about 6 miles or 10 km distant. Possible to spend up to 6 hours in Anstuther when last checked on the [29th October 2007 timetable]

Service 63 connects Anstuther with St. Andrews and Crail on a clockwise circuit. Possible to spend 4 hours in Astuther as of [29th October 2007 timetable]

Service 95 connects Anstruther with both St. Andrews and Leven and villages in between along the A917 coast road. At least an hourly service and possible to spend up to 8 hours in Anstuther when last checked [29th October 2007 timetable].

Train and Bus Service Connection points
Kirkcaldy railway station is 500 metres from Kirkcaldy bus station where bus services from Glasgow (X26, X27) and Edinburgh (X58 & X60) intersect.

Glenrothes Markinch railway station (which is about 4km from Glenrothes bus station). Road link to Anstruther is along the A911, A915 and A917.

Cupar Railway station is the nearest to Anstruther along B940 and B9131 roads.

Leven bus station is the nearest place to Anstruther where the Fife Coastal Path, Glasgow (X26 & X27), Edinburgh (X58 & X60) and local service bus 95 all intersect.

Upper Largo (main street opposite the post office) is the nearest village bus stop where the Glasgow and Edinburgh services X26, X27, X58 and X60, intersect with local service bus 95.

Driving

Arriving from Fourth Bridge, Kirkcaldy, Leven and Pittenween along the A917 coast road from the west
Follow the A917 road into and through Anstruther as far as the first mini roundabout, with some 5 brown tourism signs on far left side.
(The Museum is now 0.3 miles from this point).
Turn right and follow the road downhill to the bottom by the harbour wall.
Now follow the harbour side road along, with the shops or your left. Pass the public toilets and the first car park (36 spaces, with 2 reserved for disabled users and 2 for motrocyclists) . Continue along to find the rounded white corner wall and brown painted entrance to the Scottish Fisheries Museum. Immediatly afterwards turn right into the car park beside the glass, bus stop, shelter.

Arriving from direction of Dundee and St Andrews crossing inland from the north, along the B89131
Go past Co Op supermarket (on right), go straight over double mini-roundabout, and then gently down to the next mini roundabout.
(The museum is 0.3 miles from this point).
Go straight across the mini roundabout and follow the road more steeply downhill to the bottom by the harbour wall.
Now follow the rest of the directions as above …………..

Arriving from Crail (and St. Andrews) along the A917 coast road from the east.
Turn left off the A419 at the brown tourism sign to Fisheries Museum and Tourist Information. Then turn right into Fowler Place where there are three brown tourism signs for Tourist Information, Fisheries Museum and Harbour. From this point follow the winding road and repeat signs for 0.4 miles. Turn left into car park, at near side of the glass, bus stop, shelter, under the brown Tourist Information sign. The Museum is directly across the road from the car park, to the left side of the TIC.

Cycling
A number of cycling routes have been established in the Kingdom of Fife area and detailed by VisitScotland.
Follow road directions as given above. The car park across from the museum has 2 D stands for locking cycles to, directly opposite the Tourist Information Centre.
The Museum itself has space in the enclosed courtyard for cycles belonging to customers of the café or museum.

Walking

Again we offer you the chance to leave your bags under cover in the courtyard, whilst visiting the museum galleries.

There are also baggage lockers in the Tourist Information Centre to use when visiting Anstruther. They cost ? to use, but open automatically at the close of day.
