Forthcoming exhibition : Visserstruien : Traditional Dutch Ganseys

In October the Scottish Fisheries Museum looks forward to welcoming a touring exhibition of ganseys that highlights the links between fishing communities across the North Sea.
The exhibition of fishermen’s knitwear has been created by textile expert Stella Ruhe to mark this North Sea phenomenon - an art form and chapter in women’s history which came dangerously close to being forgotten but now inspires contemporary designers, knitters, writers, curators and historians the world over.
The exhibition will showcase over 30 of Stella’s hand-knitted garments based on her extensive research of traditional designs.
