Museum on Track to Re-Open on 26th August

We are getting ready to welcome you back to our Museum.

We are introducing some new measures in line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable visit. These include pre-booked timed entry, enhanced cleaning, sneeze screens, hand sanitising stations and one-way routes in the museum galleries.

Please do not plan to visit the museum, shop or tearoom if you or anyone in your household has any symptoms of Coronavirus.

We want you to have a safe and enjoyable visit. During your visit, we will ask you to:

Visiting the Museum

Please book a timed entry ticket

Timed entry will be introduced to ensure that we can manage numbers and maintain physical distancing. All visitors, including our Members, will need to book a timed entry ticket in advance of their visit. Our online system will be launched soon.

Small groups of up to six people will be able to visit the museum. All members of the party must arrive at the same time and to be granted entry. Once in the Museum you will be asked to stay with your party and to wear a face covering throughout your visit. Please only book tickets for yourself and your household, to help us comply with NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect. We are unfortunately unable to accommodate school and large group visits at this time.

Arriving at the Museum

When you arrive at the museum you must present your pre-booked timed entry ticket (either printed or on a smartphone) or provide your order number. You will be checked in by our staff before you can start your visit. Please ensure you arrive at the museum within your arrival slot. If you arrive before or after your slot, we may not be able to grant you entry.

Tearoom, Shop and Facilities

Initially the Tearoom will be open for takeaways only. Please follow the signage to our new entrance where you can place and collect your order. We plan to open more fully in due course with indoor seating and table service.

Please note, we will be accepting card payments only.

The museum shop will be open, accepting card payments only. Please note that in line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines face coverings must be worn and social distancing recommendations mean we can have only two customers in the shop at any given time.

Toilets in the museum, including an accessible toilet and a baby changing facility will be open for the use of pre- booked museum visitors and seated tearoom customers only.

In line with Scottish Government (Covid-19) guidelines and our commitment to ensure the safety of our visitors as much as possible, we have increased the frequency and expanded the cleaning regime in these facilities each day.

Public toilets are available adjacent to the Harbour Master’s building.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back!
