Merchant's Room : Snapshots of Memory
6 April - 1 May 2022

Photographs of Anstruther’s Past
As part of our FishNet Digitisation Project we share a slection of images from our archives.
Change is inevitable, even in places that feel immune to change. It creeps up, slowly morphing whatever it touches until that thing is almost unrecognisable. All that remains are memories, whether in one’s mind or in images.
Yet change touches different things in different ways. When the pace of life is slow, some things can remain the same over hundreds of years.
Anstruther, Cellardyke and Kilrenny have changed much over their history. Some changes are obvious, while others are far more subtle. At the same time, things have stayed the same. Through the photographs in this exhibition, we invite you to compare and contrast the past and present, seeing for yourself what has changed and what has remained.
